The Greenwood Project reimagines a 34-acre site in Tulsa, Oklahoma—currently an underutilized stormwater management park—as a space of remembrance, healing, and community resilience. Located in the heart of the historic Greenwood District, the site was the epicenter of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, one of the most devastating acts of racial violence in U.S. history. Through landscape architecture and public design, the project transforms this neglected land into a meaningful memorial landscape. Featuring native vegetation, commemorative elements, and interactive public spaces, the design honors those lost while fostering environmental justice, cultural memory, and long-term community engagement.
